I bought this in Glow 2. I was looking for a powder that would give a dewy/glowy finish. This one had too much glow. The brush it came with was terrible. They shouldn't have bothered including it.
Considering its reputation for being a higher end brand, their loose powders are quite disappointing. L'Oreal and Cover Girl seem to perform better than Clinique. Very drying upon initial application, yet manages to let you turn into a greaseball an hour later. My pretty durable, not so sensitive skin even reacted to its gimicky formula. Ugh.
Having oily skin, I thought I would hate a loose powder with shimmer. I shine enough already - why add more? This powder does a really good job of controlling my oil throughout the morning, and my skin looks glowing after I use it. I chose glow 2, but it really doesn't add color to my skin, which is a plus. The only downside I found while using it is that I have to shake the container upside down several times to deposit enough powder into the tray. I was pleasantly surprised by this product, and recommend it to anyone who wants a powder that provides a colorless glow.
My first loose powder. I'm a NC20 and I bought 03 Transparecy.the
color matches perfect with my skintone, also is very good on oily
skins, also you get a perfect large amount of this product,35 gr. But it
doesn't have the good coverage that a pressed powder has,and it's not
so practical to have it around for touch ups through the day! I think I
won't buy it again because I prefer pressed powders, they're more
practical than the loose ones!!
Pros:non oily, perfect large amount, nice texture Cons:it's not so practical packaging, not enough coverage
I know what you mean about loose powders. The key, however, to having that porcelain-like skin, is to first gently cleanse your skin, exfoliate with a good clarifier (not a "toner" or "astringent") to sweep away excess debris and clear pores, then follow with a moisturizer appropriate for your skin type. If you have combination or oily skin, you should use oil-free, fragrance-free products. If you have normal to dry or dry skin, use oil-based products. Exfoliation in essential, since the dead skin left on your face after cleansing will show up worse when you put on your powder. And moisturizing over this dead skin only clogs your pores and gums up with the debris left after cleansing, causing your powder to look cakey. And if your powder tends to "change color" on you as the day goes by, it's possibly due to oiliness. The reason? Oily skin heats up, makeup turns darker, so powder looks darker. Every skin type should exfoliate daily with a liquid clarifier (twice is best) to help moisturizer soak in better. Try this. It may help, may not. But it is worth a try, no matter the brand.
Pros:Great, lightweight powder. Sheer, yet has come coverage. Cons:
my favorite loose powder. It matifies for hours and it makes the
features more delicate, face just looks less tired... It blends
prefectly with the skin, which looks like it's been airbrushed or
something. Makes my mornings better cause after I apply it I can look
in the mirror with a smile:)
I love this stuff and will
definitely repurchase. I never apply it with palms - what a silly idea.
I use a powder brush from CVS and it works perfectly. price is not the
lowest, but not the highest either.
Pros:blends great with skin, matifies for many hours Cons:maybe price. also sometimes seems to get darker on face (?)
This powder makes me look ok at a distance, but up close it looks like I have dipped my head in flour. One part of the problem may be that I got the wrong shade. Since I have very pale skin I bought the lightest one, but this was probably a mistake since it on my face looks like a really pale pink. The shade is called 01 Transparency 1. I have used almost white powders before, but they havn´t ever looked this white on my face. It really dosn´t make any imperfections go away, I almost feel like it accetureate them even more. This could be becouse I do something wrong when applying it, since I havn´t really ever found a loose powder that works for me (compact powders have worked, but never loose ones). But I apply it exactly like they say:
"Apply after makeup, using powder rubdown technique: pour loose powder into palm of hand, rub palms together, then "wash" entire face with powder from hairline to chin. Avoid getting into eyes. Brush off excess with brush."
I can´t brush of enought no matter how little I use.
Another part of the problem can be that I have dry skin (but it´s supposed to work for all skin types) and only use powders to "set" my makeup and make it last longer and not for any shine control.
So maybe it´ll work for someone even paler than me with oliler skin who is better at applying loose powders.
For me it would be really helpful if I would ever go for that "goth"-look ;)
Pros:Really pale and mattifying Cons:Too pale
Not natrual looking enough
I normally love loose powders, but this powder seemed to have an oilier texture (i.e. not as dry and powdery) than most loose powders I've tried, which made it a little harder to blend with a brush. (Ironic, since the powder came with a brush instead of a puff...) I also think it was not quite as matte as most loose powders I've tried. This is the only powder I've tried that I threw out before I used it up -- normally I hate to throw away products because I feel like I'm wasting money.
I can't remember the exact color I bought, but it was probably their lighest shade!
